Key points for disinfection of duck and goose farms
1. Disinfection range
The scope of disinfection includes personnel, vehicles, feeding management tools, bedding duck and goose sports grounds, poultry farm entrances and exits, poultry houses, environment, drinking water, egg breeding and chemical utensils and other excreta, sick and dead poultry carcasses, etc.
2. Disinfection of entrances and exits
To eliminate or reduce pathogenic microorganisms and ensure the health of ducks and geese, its disinfection is very important and must not be a formality.
(1) Vehicles, disinfection pools, production areas, and people must set up vehicle disinfection pools, and the length of the vehicle disinfection pool is more than 2 circumferences for entering and exiting vehicle wheels. It is best to build a roof above the disinfection tank to prevent sun and rain.
(2) Disinfection rooms, disinfection rooms should be set up at the door of the field area and at the door of the poultry house, and personnel and utensils should be disinfected when entering people. Personnel entering must change shoes, work clothes, etc. before they can enter.

Disinfection of feeding utensils and utensils
1. Poultry farm management equipment and utensils can be soaked or sprayed for disinfection.
2. Feeding and drinking utensils
(sink, feeding trough) disinfected 2-3 times a week, the frequency of disinfection should be increased in the hot season, the plastic cloth used to feed the chicks, the reverse and the front side are disinfected once each.
3. Disinfection of litter
Litter such as crushed grass, rice husks or sawdust are selected, turned and harmless and treated with disinfectant solution 3 days before hatching. This method not only maintains humidity, but is also a physical control measure against coccidiosis. At the same time, it is also convenient to remove the litter and feces after the end of brooding.
4. Disinfection of personnel
Before receiving the birds, the breeders need to bathe, change the clothes, shoes, socks, etc. they are wearing, and change into work clothes, work shoes and work caps that have been disinfected with peracetic acid.
Breeders need to change their work clothes, shoes, foot disinfection tank before entering the poultry house, and disinfect with ultraviolet radiation for 10-20min, and need to soak and disinfect their hands with peracetic acid or sodium hypooxide, iodine preparations and other solutions before touching feed and drinking water.
If you go to a place where infectious diseases have occurred, thoroughly disinfect them after returning to the venue, and only enter the venue after short-term isolation to confirm safety.
5. Disinfection of drinking water
The water quality of ducks and geese drinking water is best tested in advance, generally the number of E. coli bacteria per 100mL sample should not exceed 5 000. There are two commonly used drinking water disinfection methods, namely physical disinfection and chemical disinfection.
It should be noted that the use of drinking water disinfection is prohibited for 2 days before and after the immunization of ducks and geese, so as not to affect the effect of vaccination.
6. Disinfect poultry
Disinfection of poultry is one of the important measures for comprehensive epidemic prevention of intensive farms, and it is also the main means to purify the environment of poultry houses and prevent the spread of epidemic diseases, especially for those old farms with poor isolation conditions and different age flocks raised in the same poultry farm and various diseases often occur. When entering the chicks, the chick box should be fully disinfected outside the house before the chicks enter the poultry house to prevent pathogenic microorganisms attached to the box from being brought into the house. In the event of an epidemic such as avian influenza, the lid of the box must be uncovered and disinfectant should be used together with the chicks. 1 week before hatching: Gently disinfect the poultry house and brooder 1~2 times a day. In the future, 1~2 times a week, once a week during the breeding period, adult birds can be disinfected once in 1~15 days, and once a day in the event of an epidemic.
[Note] The amount of disinfectant is based on the uniform wetness of the ground, walls and ceiling and the degree of slight moisture on the surface of the poultry body, it is best to replace 3 disinfectant every 4~1 weeks; When spraying, the temperature in the house should be increased by 3~4C than usual, and the duck body should not be sprayed too wet when it is cold in winter.
7. Disinfection of transfer groups
Cages, vehicles and other utensils used for group transfer must be sprayed with wine or flame disinfection before they can continue to be used.
8. Disinfection of feces
Feces often contain a variety of pathogens, especially during infectious diseases, duck manure contains a large number of pathogens and parasite eggs (especially after deworming), if not disinfected, it is directly used as farmland fertilizer, often become a source of infection, therefore, the feces must be strictly disinfected.
